Fire at Power Plant

All three Glendale Fire ladder trucks were needed to extinguish a fire that broke out in a cooling tower at Grayson Power Plant the evening of July 15. Three fire engines, an ambulance, and a Battalion Chief were also present and engaged in battling the blaze or overseeing operations. Photos by Engr. Gregg Shaw.

Two Promoted

A pinning ceremony was held at Station 21 on July 16 for (left to right) Ed Marquez, Ron Gulli, and Gregg Shaw. Marquez was promoted to Fire Captain, Gulli received the #1 Captain's badge as the senior Captain currently on the line, and Shaw was promoted to Fire Engineer. Fire Chief Harold Scoggins, who officiated at the ceremony, is on the right.

Be careful out there!

Glendale Fire personnel respond to several overturned vehicle calls every month. Thanks to the safety features in many cars nowadays, the occupants of the vehicle often walk away without serious injuries, but the car is usually damaged beyond repair.

Grass Fire on Wilson Terrace

A grass fire was reported on Wilson Terrace the afternoon of June 16. Units arrived onscene and promptly extinguished it.
